Senior Communication Strategist

New York

What does a Senior Communication Strategist do?

The role of Communication Strategy is the orchestration of how ideas live, engage, and spread. We believe media should not be viewed as only an outlet for communications, but should be an extension of brands and experiences.

We believe Communication Strategists work in the creative business, injecting creativity, imagination and potential to our ideas. What really interests a Com Strat is the big idea and what makes it go. We help give the idea a purpose and a center and create strategies that dictate how that idea comes to life.

Responsibilities may include:

Own and lead projects, setting the strategic direction for their accounts

Teach and manage Junior Communication Strategist and/or Communication Strategist(s)

Apply understanding of client objectives, consumers and media to planning

Partner with brand strategists to research, develop insights and write briefs

Partner with creative teams to give input on ideas

Assist in development of communication architecture to lead media evaluation and selection

Support creative development process and oversee execution of ideas

Manage and build client relationships

Provide a strong voice among inter-agency partners (internal and external)

Represent the Com Strat POV in New Business pitches in the NYC office

Day to day media vendor relationships

Qualities and experience are we looking for? 

A self-starter who can be a source of knowledge and energy about Com Strat in our NYC office.

Someone who is already tapped into trends and new approaches in media, social media, organic content, creators, etc.

Previous media planning experience is important

Ideally some experience in sports and sports sponsorships

A high degree of curiosity about culture

Strong presentation skills, ability to hold a room and lead discussions collaboratively

Ability to simplify and solve problems, and see connections within data

Forward-facing, independent thinker

4-5 years relevant experience working in Media Planning or Communication Planning or Connection Planning at an Ad Agency

Regarding compensation for this role, the range below represents the low and high end of the base salary someone in this role may earn as a full-time employee of Goodby Silverstein & Partners in the United States. Salaries will vary based on various factors including but not limited to professional and academic experience, training, associated responsibilities, and other business and organizational needs. Salary decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each hire.

Communication Strategist - Social Focus

The social focused Communication Strategist is the Swiss-army knife of modern advertising communication. They are experts in social platforms and strive to use these platforms in interesting ways, from research and insight mining, to content creation, to analysis and optimization. They have the pulse on how to connect with audiences in a modern way and are an invaluable resource to client and agency because of it.

What does a Social Communication Strategist do?

Discover:

  • Utilize social channels to uncover audience insights and perspectives.
  • Be the expert for clients and agency on the social landscape, emerging trends and tech, and best practices.
  • Assist strategy teams in sharpening audience persona and social strategy.
     

Implement:

  • Design monthly briefs and content ideas that engage communities on social media platforms with creative teams.
  • Lead day-to-day monitoring of social media and produce timely ideas or thought starters.
     

Analyze:

  • Measure, analyze, optimize and report to internal and client teams
     

What are the key Responsibilities:

Discover:

  • Daily social listening relevant to the brand.
  • Assist strategists in shaping audience personas through interesting social insight mining.
  • Assist strategists in shaping social strategy for the brand.
  • Be up to date and a thought leader within the social landscape.
     

Implement:

  • Own the monthly post brief and quarterly reels brief for social creatives.
  • Plan and maintain social calendars and posting strategy.
  • Develop close, daily relationship with the creative teams.
  • Generate ideas and inform teams of social opportunities as they trend on social.
     

Analyze:

  • Measure, analyze, optimize and report on monthly and yearly performance.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and pressure.
     

Skills and Experience:

  • 2-3 years of relevant experience working with the different social media platforms in an ad agency. This is not an entry level role.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and data entry.
  • Some experience with media tools (Simmons, @Plan, Adviews, ComScore, etc.).
  • Comfortable with media fundamentals (reach/frequency, GRPs, CTRs, view-through, etc.).
     

This is a hybrid role. The person we hire will be expected to go into our New York office three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). We are not able to hire remote employees for this role.

Account Manager

San Francisco

We currently have an Account Manager opening that is based out of our San Francisco office.  This is a hybrid role.  The person we hire will be able to come into our San Francisco office, three days a week. 

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of four years of advertising agency experience.

The Account Manager we hire will:

ACCOUNT MANAGER - New York

We currently have an Account Manager opening that is based out of our small, and very fun, New York office.  This is a hybrid role.  The person we hire must be able to come into our SOHO office, three days a week, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of advertising agency experience.
